This chapter was a while in the coming. Most of the difficulty was determining
what would be waiting for them at the pit. I won't say who is to blame for
the length of time and arguments over what might and might not be there.
However, I chose to have the place unguarded. Why? As a confusion tactic.
Ra's seems the type who would have his people guard a completely worthless
pit, while leaving a working pit unguarded. The presence of guards would
indicate a place of more value. He actually did this in the storyline I
mentioned earlier with the Joker. Batman was drawn to the location of a
guarded pit, and found the pit had already been used.
Obviously location is going to dictate the presence of guards as well. I
feel that the pit location I'm using is far enough out of the way that guards
were unnecessary.
