I thought it was time to make mention of how, exactly, Eddie and Tommy become
friends through this. If you read Hush, you will remember that Eddie
made mention of cancer bringing people closer together. This is, as I said
in my second set of notes, true, though it can do exactly the opposite.
Still, one must start out being friends before it can break people apart.
Tommy comes across as the sort who would rather enjoy talking about his
childhood, and to be able to do that over a home cooked meal (he is a bachelor,
after all) would be the ideal way. It's also a comfortable way to talk and
get to know people. Granted, I think his reason for even talking to Eddie
in the first place, past dr/patient relations, is that Eddie is from Gotham
City.
As for Talia al Ghul, I do believe that she was involved. Her involvement
in Hush was more than it looks like, in my opinion. With current happenings
(which will be dealt with in later chapters) in the Superman/Batman comic,
I think I'm right about that.
Talia's relationship with Bruce/Batman is convoluted, I think. Especially
when it comes down to how she really feels about him. Does she really love
him? Or is she simply following what her father told her? It's something
I've wanted to go into, and with this story, I'm able to do so. Do I think
that Talia is Bruce's one and only true love? No, I don't. I think that
she could have been, if it weren't for her father. If the two had met under
completely different circumstances, I do think they would've made a better
match. As it is, Talia, while away from her father, is still ruled by his
opinion.
I brought Talia into this story, because, as it was pointed out, Eddie had
connections with Lex. I believe that he made that connection through Talia
when he went to her for a Lazarus Pit location. How the actual deal was
set up, according to Mr. Loeb, I'm not certain. If Talia was even involved
in finding the Pit, I don't know. This is just how I'm writing it, and I
think it's a feasible idea.
